I had a lot of things that I wanted to do with the kids last summer, and we got to some of them, but many things did not make it from my mind to reality. I’m determined to change that this summer. And I enlisted a few kiddos to help make that happen.
We recently created a list of things to do this summer. The kids were quite excited about it! Most of the ideas are theirs, with a few parental suggestions. Some of the items were already planned, but we put them on the list anyway. Some are things we do almost daily already. One item (see #2 below) was influenced by a recent TV advertisement. Only one item was vetoed — I promised Andrew we would go to Washington, D.C. another year.
So, without further ado, here’s our list:
1. Go to the Blue Park (Old school playground a few blocks from our house.)
2. Eat breakfast at Subway.
3. Play water games.
4. Go to the zoo (in Des Moines.)
5. Go to St. Louis.
6. Go to Grandma & Grandpa Baumer’s house.
7. Read books.
8. Read books outside.
9. Make crafts.
10. Go to Frosty Udder (local ice cream place.)
11. Take a hike.
12. Go to the elementary school playgrounds.
13. Put the pool, sprinkler and slide together for some water fun.
14. Go camping inside and outside. (The outside part might have to happen with #6!)
15. Do an Amazing Race in the yard.
16. Go to Adventureland.
17. Go to California. (We plan to drive there. Please start praying for us! tee hee!)
18. Make smoothies.
19. Sing songs.
20. Play video games.
21. Go to the local county nature center.
22. Go to storytime at the library.
23. Have a water gun fight.
24. Go to the Neal Smith wildlife area.
25. See dinosaur bones.
26. Go to the pool.
27. Go to a movie in the theater.
28. Fly a kite.
29. Ride with our neighbors on their paper route.
30. Go to the park by Eveland Access.
Wow! We’ll be busy! And we should have a blast!

I want to go to Neal Smith!
What a fun list! I’d love to join you on several places especially number 18, smoothies and number 10, the Frosty Udder.
#25 could happen at #6, too (although it won’t be what he’s picturing).
